Our Story

Uniting Estonian microbiologists since 1992

The Estonian Society for Microbiology was founded in 1992 with the aim of uniting researchers, lecturers, students, and specialists working in the field of microbiology in Estonia, while promoting professional collaboration and the advancement of microbiology in Estonia.

Since 1993, the Society has been a member of the international organizations FEMS and UIMS.

As of 2026, the Estonian Society for Microbiology is also an associated organization of the Estonian Academy of Sciences.
